India and Bangladesh Hold Strategic High-Level Talks in Dhaka

In a major diplomatic and security engagement, a high-level Indian delegation accompanied by top intelligence leadership met senior officials and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka. The meeting focused on bilateral border management, counter-terrorism cooperation, transit treaties, and security concerns along the shared 4,096-km border.

India and Bangladesh share deep historical, geographical, and economic ties backed by the 1971 Liberation War context. Recent political developments in Dhaka have prompted intense diplomatic dialogue to ensure continuous security cooperation, stability in North-East India, and operational continuity of trans-boundary river agreements.

Key issues on the agenda included extradition protocols, regional connectivity projects such as the Akhaura-Agartala rail line, trade transit through Chittagong and Mongla ports, and joint border patrolled mechanisms to curb cross-border illegal movement.
