India and Philippines Deepen Ties in Defence, Trade, and Maritime Security

India and the Philippines agreed to enhance strategic cooperation across defence, trade, technology, and maritime security during bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed commitment to a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.

Bilateral security relations between the two nations have expanded rapidly under India's 'Act East' policy and the Philippines' military modernization drive. The partnership reached a milestone with India delivering BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missile systems to the Philippine Marines under a historic export agreement signed in 2022.
