HAL Delivers LCA Tejas Trainers and Civil Dhruv NG Helicopters to Services

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the official handover of two Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas trainer variants to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and four Dhruv Next Generation (NG) helicopters to Pawan Hans Limited. The ceremony marked a dual milestone in boosting indigenous military readiness and expanding domestic civil aviation capabilities.

Designed and manufactured by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the LCA Tejas is India's flagship indigenous single-engine multirole light fighter. The trainer aircraft variant plays a pivotal role in training IAF fighter pilots. Meanwhile, the Dhruv NG helicopter represents a civil-certified upgrade of the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) platform tailored for passenger transport and disaster rescue operations.

The LCA Tejas trainer features advanced glass cockpits, modern avionics, and flight control systems identical to operational combat jets. The Dhruv NG induction by Pawan Hans Limited marks the formal entry of the domestically engineered rotorcraft platform into India's commercial aviation sector. HAL currently holds defense manufacturing orders exceeding several billion dollars under defense indigenisation targets.
