SC Directs Vetting of POCSO Complaints Filed in Matrimonial Disputes

The Supreme Court has directed police forces and courts to thoroughly vet complaints registered under the Pocso Act when they arise out of matrimonial disputes.

Under the new guidelines, authorities must seek an assessment from a child psychiatrist before making an arrest, specifically in cases where evidence of the alleged offence is not palpable, to prevent procedural misuse during family litigations.
