President Droupadi Murmu has granted assent to the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill. The newly approved law seeks to regulate personal civil affairs for residents of Gujarat, including marriage, divorce, succession, adoption, and live-in relationships.
The legislation is largely structured on Uttarakhand's Uniform Civil Code framework. With the presidential approval, Gujarat becomes another state to enact a unified legal code governing personal civil matters across all communities.
