NSO survey reveals only 15% of workers use public transport, while 46% rely on personal cars or two-wheelers.
The first-ever National Household Travel Survey released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) highlights a stark reality regarding daily commutes in India. Only 15% of the working population uses public transport services such as buses, trains, trams, or auto-rickshaws to travel to work.
In contrast, 46% of workers rely on personal two-wheelers or cars. This high reliance on private vehicles is heavily linked to the persistent and long traffic snarls seen on roads across the country.
