The Supreme Court set aside local body elections in 50 wards in Punjab and ordered that fresh re-elections be conducted within six weeks.
To ensure the polls are free, fair, and transparent, the apex court directed the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to appoint a monitoring committee within one week. The committee will comprise a retired High Court judge who will oversee the entire election process.
