In Brief
A conservation group's proposal to reintroduce Eurasian lynx to Northumberland's Kielder Forest for ecosystem restoration was rejected by a High Court judge, who ruled that the Dangerous Wild Animals Act continues to apply to released animals. Natural England had raised legal concerns about the reintroduction based on existing wildlife legislation.
The conservation organization had contested the regulator's refusal, arguing that existing wildlife laws should not conflict with the reintroduction initiative. The lynx has been absent from England for approximately 1,300 years.
