NTA Prepares Shift to Computer-Based Testing for Medical Entrance Exams

The shift follows recent administrative challenges in conducting large-scale pen-and-paper examinations across thousands of physical centers. Transitioning to encrypted, digital assessment platforms aims to eliminate question paper leaks, standardize evaluation metrics, and enhance operational transparency in high-stakes public examinations.

The Nandan Nilekani committee was constituted to recommend comprehensive reforms in examination processes, institutional security protocols, and data protection practices. Over 20 lakh students participate in national medical entrance tests annually, making it one of the largest single-day examination operations in the world.
