NHAI Launches 'OneTag' Feature to Switch FASTag Banks Without Replacement

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launched the 'OneTag' feature on its Rajmargyatra mobile application, enabling vehicle owners to change their FASTag issuing bank seamlessly without replacing the existing physical RFID tag fixed on their vehicle windscreen.

FASTag operates on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable automated toll collection across India's National Highway network. Previously, changing the linked bank required commuters to purchase a new physical tag, remove the old sticker, and re-verify vehicle documentation, creating friction for users switching bank accounts.

The OneTag feature integrates with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) toll clearinghouse platform, allowing dynamic re-mapping of the vehicle identification number (VIN) and tag ID to a new bank account. Rajmargyatra app users can complete the bank migration by verifying their registered mobile number via OTP.
