In Brief
De-notifies Jantar Mantar as a protest site after Supreme Court bench recommendation.
The government has taken steps to de-notify Jantar Mantar as an official protest site in Delhi following suggestions from the Supreme Court. A four-page court order passed on October 9 recorded a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant urging authorities to seek a more spacious and open alternative venue in Delhi.
An order issued by the Delhi Police confirmed the de-notification based on recommendations from a Ministry of Home Affairs committee.
