The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Monday entered into a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) to eliminate language barriers across India's capital market ecosystem. The agreement was executed by Shri Sandip Pradhan, Whole Time Member, SEBI, and Shri Amitabh Nag, Chief Executive Officer, DIBD. Under this strategic collaboration, SEBI will harness BHASHINI's state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) and natural language processing suite—encompassing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), Machine Translation (NMT), and Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This technical integration will empower retail investors from tier-2, tier-3, and rural regions to access regulatory disclosures, investor grievance redressal (SCORES), and financial literacy modules in 22 scheduled Indian languages. Concurrently, SEBI will contribute domain-specific financial and securities market datasets to enrich and benchmark BHASHINI’s open-source language models.
