Announces first close of Rs 453 crore for Rs 1,000-crore deeptech startup fund.
IIT Madras and venture capital firm Unicorn India Ventures have announced the first close of about Rs 450 crore (Rs 453 crore) for their Rs 1,000-crore deeptech fund.
Roughly one-third of the capital raised in the first close came from overseas investors. The fund is designated to back capital-intensive startups that require multiple years of research and capital to reach commercial scale.
The partnership aims to provide structured early-stage venture funding for research-heavy technological innovations.
