Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. The award recognizes Doval’s outstanding, fearless contributions to national security and his long-standing dedicated service to the nation.
Instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983, the Lokmanya Tilak National Award is presented annually on August 1st to commemorate the death anniversary of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The award honours individuals who have made extraordinary contributions toward the progress and national integration of India.
Ajit Doval, a 1968-batch IPS officer, served as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau before becoming India's fifth National Security Advisor in 2014. Previous recipients of this distinguished honour include notable figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and scientist Dr. Tessy Thomas.
Strategic leadership recognition highlights the significance of national security management in contemporary governance. For competitive exam candidates, this story is directly applicable to SSC and Railway general knowledge questions on awards and honors, as well as UPSC Mains GS-III topics covering internal security management.
